Everything is Going to be Ok

In the midst of constantly working, moving and planning for the future - sometimes we forget we are living in the present.
Lazy days, I think, are essential for everyone. We all need them every now and then just to rejuvenate. What I've been finding has been happening to me recently, however, is guilt. For not working, for not planning, for not being 'productive'. It makes me feel like a failure.

I didn't have a blog post lined up for today and was worried because I hadn't posted in a week. I felt this cloud of guilt hanging over my head for having not having pushed through any work today. Feeling a bit sorry for myself I went and picked these up from my book collection. I bought these years ago and had forgotten all about them.

Books of little inspiring, cheery photos. Kind of like Pinterest in hard cover.
Many of the time, these kinds of things don't completely turn my day around. But on days where I'm feeling a little sorry for myself, they do help.

This one in particular made me smile:
Don't feel guilty for lazy days.
Don't worry about the future.
Don't spend your days off worrying about the work you 'should' be doing.
Because you're alive today. Work on being happy everyday, not busy.

Things I'm trying to remind myself of.

  1. So true! I have given myself some leeway to have lazy days or just lazy afternoons lately. You can't be on all the time, it's not feasible or good for you.

  2. These books look lovely! Sounds like much needed inspiration- we all need to ground ourselves once in a while when things are feeling hectic or stuck. Sending all my good vibes :)

  8. DANG. Thought these were journals! I especially feel guilty when I'm not taking the time to respond to comments or work on a blog post, but realistically, I can't get to everything. (Well, I could, but I also want to watch the latest episode of -insert tv show here- too, y'know?) We all need time to ourselves, and sometimes I get annoyed by bloggers apologizing for blog inactivity because well, life gets in the way.
