Christmas Wishlist 2014
Christmas wishlists are something of a novelty to me. Usually, when I want something, I get it for myself so by the time Christmas comes around, I don't really want or need anything. Therapy
The search for the perfect ankle boot has been arduous ever since Topshop's Mighty Boot were no longer stocked. Alas, look no further, for Therapy has delivered with the next best thing that has indeed been quite therapeutic for me. Fidel has it all - style, height, leather and above all, comfort. The leather ages ever so gracefully, and it features a double zip - one just for decoration. Fashion. These have been the only shoes I've been wearing since I've gotten them. I am in love and have been eyeing the other colours...
Speaking of, unfortunately the black is sold out on the Iconic, where I shop because I get my Unidays discount. However they do still have the grey, (which I have been resisting) otherwise you can get black off of Styletread. Otherwise you can look into it's suede, more affordable sister, Tulum in black and brown. Now kick up your heels, these boots were made for walkin'!

Red Carpet Manicure
Shellac nails are becoming increasingly popular in the nail world - however consequently, also increasingly expensive. I did a little searchin' on the best at-home shellac system, and to my dismay apparently they're all winners! My indecisive nature was struck. However, the one that stuck with me the most was the Red Carpet Manicure kit.
I would recommend the Pro Kit because you only need to stick your hand under the LED light for 45 seconds as opposed to the 2 minutes in the Starter Kit. That's the only difference between the two sets. The entire process can be lengthy but nothing arduous. Including cut and filing, the entire process takes me about 30-40 minutes (or two episodes of Full House.) The longest I have gone with this on at a time is a week and half, and at that - no chips, all shine! Just a little growth between (my horrid) cuticles and polish. The brush is so easy to work with and allows for clean edges around the bottom of your nail. Makes you look pro!
The only downside to this is the removal which can take 15-20 minutes in itself - however I like to do three coats of polish, which means I can peel it off instead of removing.. which is probably unhealthy, but more fun and less time-consuming. Oops!
As for damage, before application you must buff your nail for extra adhesion. As long as you don't buff too hard it shouldn't implement too much damage. About the same as continuous and repetitive nail polish remover use. I know some people are concerned with the LED lamp, but some have suggested to use sunscreen to minimise harm. As for me, I've yet to see any damage after multiple uses with this system.
There are three steps that are often skipped or overlooked in the belief that they are a waste of time, but I think it's best not to skip them to maximise your length of wear.
- Buff your nail beforehand. The shellac sticks better to a rough surface. (I forgot to buff once. The nail polish peeled only a few short days after.)
- Seal the deal. Paint the tip of your nail to 'wrap the free edge'. This reduces tipwear by a mile!
- If you get any polish at all on your cuticles or skin, use an orange stick to clean it up before you stick your hand under the lamp. It'll be uncomfortable afterwards, and while you can peel it off afterwards, you may risk peeling off some of your perfect manicure as well.
TL;DR? Get it.

H&M Jewels
Knuckle rings and stacking rings have been a trend that I have loved for a very long time, yet I've never had a clue how to buy appropriate matching rings to look somewhat decent on me. Sometimes sets have the tacky picks, the rusty ring or the expensive price tag - however upon one of my many visits to H&M in NYC, I found the perfect set of stacking rings that suited me, and I felt comfortable flaunting. Simple, clean and a one-size-fits-all gem, it was a no-brainer in handing over the measly $5.95.

Funday
(The photo with me pouting was a joke.. Also, I don't have a Minaj, the wind was blowing my dress.)
I can't decide whether I feel like a 5-year-old in this dress or if I feel like, if I were to be one piece of clothing, this would be it. Originally, this Asos daisy dress was midi-length, but being short myself I couldn't pull it off. So it came off. I turned it into a little summer dress that was the easiest thing to put on without a need for accessories for it's already bold print. Unfortunately, it is sold out now, but it does come in maternity, which could be ideal for those with bigger curves. If not, I recommend going one to two sizes down, if you're interested. Paired with simple black flats and my Ray-bans, it felt like summer had already come.
This past weekend, I organised a family barbeque for my family that I made sure everyone was to attend. It involved summer heat, water fights and so many laughs. Originally, I had planned to do a proper outfit post, but instead the water fight began prematurely and after that I was absolutely drenched. It's funny how on this day, I thought I had a tonne of photos for this post, but looking through them I realised they were family photos, not ones to be shared. Because they're special... and also because you'll be incredibly bored!
Still, I believe it's these kinds of memories that we remember most in our grey days...
